VESTAL, N.Y. -- A Vestal man accused of killing his child's teenage mother pleaded guilty to manslaughter in Broome County court Monday.

The District Attorney’s Office says Steven Lipka, 20, admitted to killing Shelby Jenkins, 16. Jenkins died from being choked to death in her home on Westland Road in Vestal back in June.

Lipka and Jenkins shared an infant child together.

Lipka will be sentenced in December to 18 years in prison.
