BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -- Broome County has seen its share of natural disasters in recent years, including two floods. County officials are hoping to teach the public about how to better prepare themselves for those types of disasters.
The county is hosting its first every Disaster Preparedness Fair Wednesday from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Binghamton University Events Center. There will be about 40 exhibits designed to educate the public as well as five presentations throughout the evening.
County officials encourage everyone to attend.
"At the times when these happen, you are just like what do I do? In mass confusion. We're just hoping that this can help them prepare, like I said, you are never ever too prepared for any disaster," said Broome County Executive Debbie Preston.
September is recognized as Disaster Preparedness Month.
