CORNING, N.Y. -- A Steuben County woman was arrested after police say she violently killed a pit bull in her home in Corning. Gaylynn Taylor, 32, is charged with aggravated cruelty to animals after she allegedly stabbed an adult pit bull to death.
Police say the incident occurred at 221 Steuben Street before the animal was taken to a home in Painted Post to be disposed of.
Authorities believe they have a motive behind the crime.
"It appears that it had happened after a heated domestic incident. The dog was owned jointly by the husband and wife and it isn't believed that the husband had any knowledge or any participation in this incident," said Sgt. Kenzie Spaulding, Corning Police Department.
Taylor was arraigned in the City of Corning court and is set to re-appear in court in late October.
