SALAMANCA, N.Y. -- A Western New York community said goodbye to an educator with strong ties to the Southern Tier. Funeral Services were held on Friday for Keith Reed Jr., the Clymer School Superintendent who was found shot to death outside of his Chautauqua County home earlier this week.
Hundreds of people gathered at United Congregational Church in Salamanca to pay their respects. Before moving to Western New York, Reed spent several years as principal in the Sherburne-Earlville District, after beginning his career in the Horseheads and Campbell-Savona Districts. Current and former students were present at Friday's services, as were Reed's three daughters and his brother, a former FBI agent.
"I'm still in cop mode. Haven't really cried yet," said Kevin Reed, victim's brother. "It's been devastating for my parents. They're both 85, well my father, yesterday was his birthday. And it's just been devastating for them."
Reed will be honored by the district during the football team's homecoming game on Saturday.
