BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- A grand jury indicts a Binghamton man accused of trying to kill his girlfriend. Ralph Townsend, 53, is charged with second degree attempted murder, first degree assault, and third degree criminal possession of a weapon.
According to authorities, Townsend attacked Eileen Montagano, 38, as an apartment on Miles Street during the night of August 23. Responding officers said they arrived to find Townsend stabbing Montagano on the bed, and one of the officers shot him twice in the back. Montagano was treated at the hospital for four stab wounds.
