ORISKANY, N.Y. -- The state is doing what it can to help workers affected by the end of manufacturing at the Orion Bus plant in Oriskany. Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Wednesday that more than $800,000 of federal money will be put towards training 270 Orion Bus workers who were laid off.

The Department of Labor and the Workforce Investment Board of Herkimer will team up to train workers in a variety of skills for up-and-coming professions, and will help connect those workers to new jobs. Areas include certificate and degree training programs in advanced manufacturing, environmental technology, health care, and information technology.
