If you felt the earth shake under your feet Tuesday evening, you're not alone. An earthquake four miles south of Lake Arrowhead, Maine was felt here. The 4.0 magnitude quake happened around 7:12 p.m. Tuesday. We didn’t feel the quake in our studios, but Innae Park found people that did.

UNITED STATES -- Well, did you feel it? We're talking about a magnitude 4.0 earthquake that rattled southern Maine, but was also felt in our area.

The U.S. Geological Survey says an earthquake hit about 20 miles west of Portland. Portland is more than 250 miles away from Albany.

The three mile deep quake was felt all the way here in our area.

People from Albany, all the way to Binghamton, say they felt it, but scientists say that's not uncommon and this is nothing compared to the one many felt last year that had an epicenter all the way in Virginia.

"This is not as strong as the one that occurred in Virginia. But earthquakes in the Eastern United States, and in this area, they're spread out over a bigger area. So this one was felt over a large area, but not as big an area as the one in Richmond, Virginia," said geophysicist Frank Revetta.

There have been no reports of damage either here or at the epicenter in Maine.
