VESTAL, N.Y. -- Town of Vestal officials pre-approved the volunteer fire department's 2013 budget during a public hearing Tuesday night.
Town officials say next year's budget is on track with few changes in expenses.
Fire department officials worked for months with the Fire Advisory Board to put together next year's budget.
Officials say vehicle maintenance and fuel costs have gone up. Firefighters were forced to make sacrifices in other areas.
"We still have to maintain our buildings and our equipment, so now we are going to have to do without possible, some equipment that we're going to have to make do with the older stuff for right now and maybe down the road we can recap that," said Pat McPherson, Vestal Fire Department Chief.
Town board members will vote on the budget October 24th.
