SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The man accused of stabbing another person at the downtown YMCA over the weekend is in police custody. Syracuse Police arrested English Rogers, 50, Tuesday night at an apartment on South Avenue in the city.

Rogers is accused of slashing the neck Matthew Jefski, 41, at the YMCA on Saturday. Jefski was upgraded from critical to serious condition last night at Upstate University Hospital.

Police say that they were able to find Tuesday night after numerous tip calls.

"This is just a great example of what happens when the police and the media and the public team up. We were able to get a guy that we were looking for for several days who's obviously a very, very dangerous person and we were able to get him into custody without anyone else getting hurt," said Sgt. Tom Connellan, Syracuse Police.

Police say the exact charges against Rogers have not yet been determined.
