People from all over the region have pulled together to help the children of a man who died in a car crash earlier this week. 28-year-old Joseph Clayton of Liverpool was killed Monday and leaves behind two children. Our Katie Gibas reports on the effort to support his kids.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. ---Joseph Clayton, or Joey as all his friends called him, touched everyone he met.

"He would go out of his way to sacrifice what he had just to help somebody else out," said Paul Ridall, a Friend.

Nicole Stevenson, another Friend added, "He was outspoken, very selfless. He would do absolutely anything for anybody. He helped me through a lot. He wasn't one in a million. He was one in a lifetime."

28-year-old Joseph Clayton of Liverpool was in Monday's crash on 690 in the Town of Geddes. Clayton was a passenger in a car driven by 20-year-old Keisha Gray of Ohio. Police say Gray lost control and hit a concrete median and was then hit by another vehicle. Gray and another passenger in that car, 21-year-old Ryan Misener of Liverpool, also died in the crash.

Joey leaves behind his two children seven-year-old Raven and ten-year-old Weylin. Friends say Joey will not only live on through his children, but he's also given the gift of life to others by being an organ donor.

"It's their families that are going to benefit. If they have kids, those kids are going to benefit. They're not going to have to go through what Raven and Weylin are going through. So it's like the butterfly effect. He's helping countless numbers of people," said Ridall.

Now friends of Clayton are doing something to give back to the man that's always helped them. They've organized a fundraiser to support his children.

"Everything made goes to a great cause, two little kids and he lives on through them and so honor him by honoring the children," said Ridall.

Stevenson added, "The amount of people that have reached out to us to help up do this has been phenomenal. So seeing that just makes it a lot easier."

Friends say this fundraiser will show Joey's children how many people's lives their father touched.

That fundraiser will include music, food and more. It's Saturday, November 3rd from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Fusion Room at 3705 Brewerton Road in Mattydale.
