Court affirms verdict in 2010 stabbing in Elmira
CHEMUNG COUNTY, N.Y. -- The state appellate court has denied the appeal of a man convicted of a deadly stabbing in Elmira.
William Jordan, of New York City, was convicted of second degree murder and first degree assault in November 2010. He was found guilty of killing Robert Pritchett, 40, of Elmira, with an ice pick in front of the Inferno Bar on College Avenue.
Jordan was sentenced to 25 years to life for murder and also received a concurrent 25 years for assault.
Jordan appealed the verdict, claiming he did not have effective representation and that there was misconduct by prosecutors, but the appellate court ruled there was no merit to Jordan's claim, upholding the guilty verdict.
