COHOES, N.Y. -- People all along the Eastern Seaboard are getting ready for Hurricane Sandy. In New York, Governor Andrew Cuomo has already declared a state of emergency.

Cuomo made a stop at Cohoes NYPA headquarters on Sunday afternoon. Over the last few days, the governor has stressed the importance of being prepared, which he expressed at a press conference on Long Island earlier on Sunday.

"And don't take this lightly. I know there's been a number of situations, we get accustomed to hearing a weather forecast, and sometimes we're dubious about the weather forecast, but this is nothing to play with. And this is nothing to take lightly, so take it seriously," said Cuomo.

Cuomo also thanked all of the agencies that have already responded to help in the preparation for Sandy.
