SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Westmoreland football team has won four sectional championships in the past six years, more than any other Section III program, and the Bulldogs are aiming to add another Friday night at the Carrier Dome.
Westmoreland is the No. 6 seed in the Class D tournament but is hardly a Cinderella. The Bulldogs are 7-2 with each of their losses being by only two points, and they can avenge one of those by beating top-seeded Sandy Creek in the championship game. The Comets beat Westmoreland 21-19 in Week 6.
The Class D final kicks off at 5 p.m. and will be televised on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel.
