SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse University honored four of its most distinguished alumni Thursday.

The George Arents Award was handed out to Dennis Crowley, Thom Filicia, Art Monk and Jane Werner.

About a hundred people attended the event in SU's Goldstein Auditorium. The four honorees were awarded for outstanding contributions and success in their field of work.

The university has been presenting this award since 1939 and has honored more than 200 alumni.

SU's Alumni Association President says it's empowering that the university plays such a large role in alumni success within the community.

"This university is unique in that in a way that it not only views itself as a leader in terms of educating its students, but in terms of being a leader in the community and being something that people look up to as an institution and as a way of life," said Brian Spector, SU Alumni Association President.

The event was part of Orange Central, which is SU's homecoming week.
