ALFRED, N.Y. -- Police are still trying to figure out what caused an explosion at an apartment complex in Allegany County. It happened at the Rose Apartments on Glen Street in the village of Alfred just after 5 p.m. Sunday.
The complex houses a number of college students from nearby campuses. Police say everyone is accounted for. Two people were taken to nearby hospitals with non life threatening injuries.
The Red Cross opened a shelter for tenants at Alfred State College.
