OSWEGO COUNTY, N.Y. – Sheriff’s Departments from throughout New York State are doing their part to help the victims of Sandy.

Oswego County residents can drop off items like cleaning supplies, towels, blankets, non-perishable food items, water, toiletries, batteries and flashlights between now and Tuesday the 27th, at the Public Safety building on Churchill Road.

The donation drive was organized by the New York State Sheriff’s Association, on behalf of the Salvation Army.

Sheriff Reuel Todd says Oswego County has received help in the past when needed and he hopes residents consider returning the favor.

Todd said, "The United States has always been a leader in helping people in need, now have one, an area in our own state, similar to when they shipped help to us during the ice storm of 2001, that we are trying to reciprocate and get some help down there for them."

Monetary donations cannot be accepted, but can sent directly to the Salvation Army.
