UTICA, N.Y. -- A Utica man will spend at least a year behind bars after a single kick to the head killed his friend. Nathaniel Ephriam, 47, was sentenced Wednesday for kicking Freddie Knight during a March party, because Knight put a pillow over his girlfriend's face. Ephriam claimed he used his fist.

Knight didn't seek medical attention right away. He died several days later from blunt force trauma to the brain.

Ephriam pled guilty to criminally negligent homicide and will serve a one to three year prison sentence.
