UTICA, N.Y. -- The Utica Common Council says they're an open book for the community. And to prove it, some council members are looking into the installation of cameras in their conference room.

Research is being done to find the lowest cost for the equipment and installation, including the possibility of a local business donating all the necessary technology. This equipment would record all committee meetings, training sessions, and discussions for the public to view at their own convenience.

"It brings right to their living room or their computer desk top exactly what's happening in city hall. I think it's extremely important that they have that opportunity," Edward Bucciero, (D) Utica Common Councilman said.

Council members say they are also in the process of updating the city's website. All information about the common council meetings, and unedited video feeds from those meetings will eventually be available online.
