SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- If you've seen the ropes course at Destiny USA, it can be a bit intimidating, but imagine doing it blindfolded.

That's exactly what a group of people and a few employees did Monday night to raise awareness about blindness.

Erin Scala has Retinitis Pigmentosa. It's an eye disease that causes damage to the retina. She can only see light and dark.

Scala organized the ropes course gathering to prove that people with sight and without sight can do the same things.

"I think it's important for everyone to know blind people can have a job. Blind people can roller blade. They can run and swim and do everything else. Their eyes just don't work. We might go about it differently, might be a little more of an obstacle. But no matter what, we'll get through it and succeed," Scala said.

Scala is a self proclaimed adventure seeker. She snowboards, runs, bikes and swims.
