GEDDES, N.Y. -- An Onondaga County private school holds a mass to remember those lost in last Friday's shooting in Connecticut.

Twenty children and six adults were killed when a 20-year-old opened fire at an elementary school. Although Bishop Ludden is hundreds of miles from Newtown, Connecticut, they wanted to show their support through a memorial mass Thursday morning.

School officials say they wanted to take this time to assure the community and students that safety is a high priority at the school.

Principal Mike Sandore said, "We want all our parents and the entire Bishop Ludden community to realize we do take safety very, very seriously. And every one of our students, we want them to feel safe in this environment here. And we work hard at that."

Students, faculty, community members and alumni of Bishop Ludden were invited to take part in the remembrance memorial.
