UTICA, N.Y. -- A Utica man who tied a woman up and raped her in Oneida County has pleaded guilty. John Santoro was arrested back in June after the woman reported the rape, saying she knew her attacker.

He briefly escaped while being held at the Oneida County Jail in October, but was caught a few minutes later across the street from the facility.

Santoro pleaded guilty to first-degree rape, criminal contempt and escape. When sentenced, he'll receive up to 15 years for the rape charge and two to four years for contempt, which he will serve concurrently. Two to four more years will be added on to the end for the escape charge.
