SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The woman who has headed the McMahon-Ryan Child Advocacy Center since its creation is taking on a new job.
Julie Cecile has been sworn in as a new judge in Onondaga County Family Court.
She says her work with children at McMahon-Ryan has given her greater insight as she takes on her new job; a job that, she says, has always been her goal.
"It's always been a dream. I don't mean to sound corny, but it's always been a dream. I was 13 years old. Wanted to be an attorney. Wanted to do family court. So, it's been a dream and it's a dream come true. So, it's nice to have it come to full fruition," Cecile said.
The swearing in was a family affair. The oath was administered by Syracuse City Court Judge James Cecile, Julie Cecile's husband.
