Woman takes vehicle she test drove shopping

BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Broome County woman has been arrested after deputies say she took a truck out for a test drive and went shopping for hours.

Authorities say the Union area dealership reported the truck stolen around 6:30 p.m. Friday, two hours after Laura Sturgeon took it out for a test drive.

At around 8:30 p.m., a deputy spotted Sturgeon at a gas station. Investigators say she used the car for four hours to shop and get some groceries. Sturgeon told them that she was planning on returning the car when she was done.

Sturgeon was charged with one count of third degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
