JEFFERSON COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Watertown man is due in court Monday for allegedly punching a police officer in the face.

Investigators say officers were trying to arrest Travis Peterkin, 43, when he fought back and ran away. Detectives eventually arrested him along the 500 block of Stone Street around 3 p.m. Sunday

Peterkin has been charged with third degree attempted assault, resisting arrest and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
