SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- New Year's Day brought a bundle of joy to one local family. Arianna Scott was the first baby born in Syracuse in 2013. She was born at St. Joseph's Hospital, arriving at 12:32 a.m.

She came a little later than expected, but her mom says she was very excited to have the first baby of the new year.

"Well we thought she was going to be born on New Year's Eve, but when they got the phone call that she was born on New Year's Day everybody was excited," said Anjalese Brown, the new mom.

The baby is a healthy five pounds, 12 ounces and is 20 inches long.
