Former bank employees admit to embezzlement

TIOGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Three former Owego Bank employees admitted to stealing a total of more than $325,000 from the Chemung Canal Trust Company Bank.

The US Northern District Attorney says Megan Horton, 54, and Gwenn Gooding, 43, both of Owego, pleaded guilty to felony bank embezzlement Wednesday. Shannon Moore, 38, pleaded guilty to the same charge on December 21st.

Horton, the former branch manager, and Gooding and Moore, both former tellers, admitted to stealing more than $325,000 total between 2004 and 2011.

They each face a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison and a fine of $1 million.

Moore’s sentencing is scheduled for April. Horton and Gooding will be sentenced in May.
