ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- They continue to make a statement, even using a jail sentence to do so. Members of the Upstate Coalition to Ground the Drones and Stop the Wars marched roughly 12 miles from Hancock Air Base to the Onondaga County Jail on Friday to begin their 15-day jail sentence.

Last month, a judge found 11 people guilty of trespassing on military grounds, and sentenced them to five to 15 days in jail.

The protesters claimed to be delivering a citizen's indictment for war crimes in connection with reaper drones allegedly committed by the base last June. Three of them began their sentence Friday afternoon.

One of the women who will be serving the 15 days says she believes it is her responsibility to do draw attention to the government's alleged illegal actions.

"The war crimes are still being committed from here, and though we may be going to jail, there are still war crimes being committed, and we still need to be saying something about it, and that's why we're here today," said Ellen Grady, a protester serving 15 day sentence.

Two other protesters have already served their 15 days in jail.
