BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -- After being awarded a more than $91 million state grant, Senator Charles Schumer is on a mission to help Broome County earn even more funding for a prospective high-tech incubator.

Schumer has invited top Economic Development Administration officials to visit Binghamton Thursday morning to review funding needed for the business incubator.

The extra federal funding that would come from the EDA’s Public Works Program would ensure success of the area's first incubator, bringing hundreds of jobs to the region.

The $91 million received from the Regional Economic Development package will be used on 62 different projects, leaving only $7 million to fund the $22 million facility.

If funding is awarded and all goes as planned, companies will start utilizing the incubator in about two-and-a-half years.
