It's another cold, blustery start to the day. As our viewers are waking up across most of Central New York, they're going to find at least a few inches of snow on the ground depending on where you're watching us. But, again, the issue of concern may not be the snow, but rather the cold temperatures once again, as it is only in the single digits this morning.

And, it's always a good idea to do a maintenance check on your vehicle when it's this cold. Auto stores across the region have been busy as products like batteries, dry gas, and vehicle fluids have been selling fast. Experts say dry gas can break up the moisture in your gas tank and may help you get it started when it's cold outside. They say getting your battery checked, checking your oil, and warming up your car will help it run better as well.

You're also advised to shut everything off once you park your car.

NAPA Auto Parts Store Manager Christopher Smith said, "Making sure that your heater and the lights and all the accessories are turned off at night before you get out there in the morning and turn the key on. Once you turn the key on, if the heaters on full blast it's taking energy away from starting the battery."

Smith said windshield wipers and wiper fluids are also two of the biggest sellers this time of year.

As for the cold, you're again advised to give yourself a few extra minutes as you head out the door today. It's a cold one, but you'll also find some slick spots out here so just be careful.
