CAPE VINCENT, N.Y. -- It's a topic of debate that has been discussed in many parts of the North Country. Now, a new wind farm is being proposed in the Cape Vincent area.

With more than one hundred people already on board, community members took part in a workshop that explained how the project will be funded.

Funding to get the process started will come in two different phases. The pre-application phase will have $70,000 in funds available. And after that is filed, it will move to the application phase, where $200,000 will be available.

Developers hope to bring around 120 wind turbines to the Cape Vincent area. They say they already have more than 100 landowners participating in the project.

"We are very excited about the level of support we have in the community. We know that the majority of the community is interested in seeing the project pursue and move forward," said Richard Chandler, Cape Vincent Wind Farm Director of Business Development.

Developers say the earliest time the Article Ten Application can be submitted is June.
