BALDWINSVILLE, N.Y. -- About 150 people will be jumping in the Seneca River as part of tomorrow's Polar Bear Plunge. It's just one of many events planned here tonight and tomorrow for the annual "Big Chill" weekend.
All the proceeds will benefit the local chamber of commerce, the Ronald McDonald House of Central New York and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Events include tonight's new "Viva B-Ville" event at the Red Mill Inn at 7 p.m. The $50 event will feature casino games along with wine, cheese, and chocolate tasting.
Of course the Polar Bear Plunge will highlight the weekend and a Best in Bowl Cook-off will take place tomorrow at 12:30.
"That features restaurants from all across Central New York not just Baldwinsville. And, this year we've added a category, Best in Desserts, so everyone, all who attend this event have the opportunity to sample and judge, on the food that's served," said Sharon Reiser, Baldwinsville Chamber of Commerce Executive Director.
In addition to tonight and tomorrow, a Polar Bear Express game will take place from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at a number of local bars and restaurants.
In the last five years, the Big Chill has raised more than $100,000 for the chamber and the local charities.
