ILION, N.Y. -- Some lawmakers have said that Remington Arms is looking to move their Ilion plant, and other states are taking that as good news.

South Carolina Congressman Jeff Duncan is actually pushing Remington to move to his state.

In a letter to the company, the Congressman portrayed South Carolina as more business and gun friendly than New York.

Congressman Richard Hanna, whose district includes Ilion, says he's focused on emphasizing Remington's value to New York to bolster efforts to keep them around.

"I think the state does know that, I certainly know Upstate does, and part of my job is to work with them in any way possible to keep them here and I intend to do that," Hanna said.

Congressman Hanna says he's trying to set up a meeting with the company's owner to discuss the plant's future in Ilion.

Repeated requests to Remington for comment have not been returned.
