Local assemblyman to host forums

No matter where you live, it's important to stay up on the current issues that affect you and the state government. That's the message from Assemblyman Bill Magnarelli who's holding a series of public forums, beginning tonight in the 129th district.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Whether it's the governor's budget proposal, education, or health care, Assemblyman Bill Magnarelli is giving his constituents a chance to talk about the issues that matter to them.

Magnarelli, who represents about 70 percent of Syracuse along with the Towns of Geddes and Van Buren, will host a series of information sessions beginning tonight. The assemblyman will give a brief presentation and then address any issues of concern that people living in his district may have. He says for the latter part of his 14-years in office he's found these forums to be especially helpful right after the governor's budget proposal.

Magnarelli said, "The people that I represent can chime in so to speak on what they think is important in the budget. What they like, what they don't like. It also gives people the opportunity to ask any question that they might have."

Two of the forums will take place in Solvay and Baldwinsville while two others are scheduled to take place in Syracuse. The first will take place tonight at Geddes Town Hall on Woods Road in Solvay beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Thursday, January 31 - Geddes Town Hall - 1000 Woods Road, Solvay 6:30 - 8 p.m.

Wednesday, February 6 - Huntington School - 400 Sunnycrest Rd., Syracuse 6:30 - 8 p.m.

Thursday, February 7 - Van Buren Town Hall - 7575 Van Buren Rd, Baldwinsville 6:30 - 8 p.m.

Wednesday, February 13 - Clay Middle School - 100 Amidon Drive, Syracuse 6:30 - 8 p.m.
