UNITED STATES -- Time Warner Cable customers may notice an increase on their bill next month. Cable rates are increasing by about two and a half percent.

The change will go into effect on your March 1st statement. However, anyone who is in a promotional package will not be affected.

Time Warner Cable officials say the increase is a direct result of programming costs.

"This is the trend in the industry, because the model of programmers continually charging more and more prices, is causing every company to adjust their prices because of what they have to pay programmers to get the content that customers want,” said Stephanie Salanger, Time Warner Cable Communications Manager.

Salanger says the last increase was a year and a half ago.

Time Warner Cable is the parent company of YNN.
