UTICA, N.Y.-- A police car and a van collided in Yorkville Thursday.
Police say the Yorkville officer was driving the patrol car down Champlin Avenue with lights and sirens on. They say the driver of a van got confused and turned into the police car.
The police car ended up hitting a house and the van ended up in someone's lawn, but Yorkville police say everyone left the scene without any life threatening injuries.
"The officer and there was also a Utica College criminal justice intern observing in the car, they were both taken to St. Luke's for examination and the two gentlemen that were in the van were also taken by ambulance," Yorkville Police Chief Gregg DeLuca said.
Because a Yorkville officer was involved, police say Whitestown Police will take over the investigation.
