POTSDAM, N.Y. – Plows tried to keep up with the snow accumulation in Potsdam on Friday. About six inches had fallen by mid-afternoon.

SUNY Canton was closed for the day. SUNY Potsdam closed early. Clarkson University and Saint Lawrence University remained open.

Emergency officials are monitoring the situation closely and are standing by to activate emergency shelters if needed.
