JEFFERSON COUNTY, N.Y. -- People were rocking to raise money for their food and clothing pantry.

Rocking chairs lined the Henderson Community Center. Contestants had to continuously rock back and forth for six full hours after getting sponsors and a teammate for the event.

The event raised more than $3,000 for the Rohde Center in Adams, keeping the funds in the North Country.

Betsy Ormsby, Chairman for Rock for Rohde Fundraising , said, "I believe the Rohde Center gives food boxes to approximately 200 families monthly and replenishing that food bank is really critical. Times are really tough and we have a lot of families that are in need."

The rocker with the most sponsors and donations will go home with a new rocking chair that was donated by The Cracker Barrel.
