AUBURN, N.Y. -- A new BBQ restaurant in Auburn is celebrating its opening, but not everyone has been excited about it.

The owner of The Bucket BBQ, Mike Henty, had to deal with some zoning and neighbor issues, but everything has been worked out. He says there were a lot of misconceptions about the smoker and the type of crowd it would bring in.

Henty says it's a family place, not a bar, and works a little differently than other local BBQ places.

"Because you don't have full service, we created something where they do a lot in Texas, where you come up and you get your brisket and your meats are cut in front of you. And you go down and you get your sides and your desserts, and your drinks, and you find a comfortable place to sit," said Henty.

The restaurant also features signature sauces and an upstairs dining room complete with a fireplace.
