SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Seven people are displaced following a fire at a Syracuse home. It started at a home on Mark Avenue just after 1:30 Saturday afternoon.

Firefighters arrived to find heavy flames on the second floor. While they were able to get the fire under control quickly, they had some extra work because they weren't sure at first if anyone was still inside.

"With a severe life hazard like that, the fire department has to go into a big rescue-type mode. It's a labor intensive search and rescue, and extinguish the fire operation," said Syracuse Deputy Fire Chief Steve Cavuto.

Fortunately, none of the residents was hurt. One firefighter was treated at the scene for a minor injury.

Investigators are still looking into what started the fire.
