The case against S.U. basketball coach Jim Boeheim lands in a court of law Friday.

Lawyers representing Boeheim and the university, and those representing alleged Bernie Fine abuse victims Bobby Davis and Mike Lang, will make arguments in New York City Friday as to whether information related to the sex life of Fine's wife is relevant in a defamation lawsuit.

Lawyers for S.U. and Boeheim are seeking to dismiss the case. Ordinarily that means requests for new information or evidence is not allowed. However, lawyers for Davis and Lang will ask the court to permit them to get information because they believe it will help them defeat the request to move the case to Syracuse.

"What the plaintiffs are trying to do is to get the names, addresses, and contact information for Syracuse University basketball players that they believe may have information or knowledge about the sexual relationship between Bernie Fine's wife and the players. And some of this information goes back to players in the 1990s," said Paul DerOhannesian, legal expert.

The outcome of Friday’s hearing could delay the February 21st decision on whether to change the venue from New York County to Onondaga County.

Coach Jim Boeheim, Bobby Davis, and Mike Lang likely will not be at the proceedings.
