OTSEGO COUNTY, N.Y. -- The suspect in an attempted arson in Oneonta was in court Tuesday morning where he pleaded not guilty to charges.
Gable Bugel, 22, was arraigned on a third degree attempted arson charge after police say he tried unsuccessfully to start a fire behind the Community Bank on Main Street Sunday.
Court documents indicate that Bugel admitted to police that he set the fire, but he did enter a plea of not guilty in court.
Bugel was already serving a five year probation for an arrest in 2009.
Police say he is a possible suspect in the string of fires that damaged several homes and buildings in Oneonta over the weekend.
Between Friday and Sunday, at least half a dozen fires were set in different parts of the city.
