Waterfalls in New york State are always fun to see. And they're even more fun when they're free! I have a few ideas that make nice getaways this spring.
Grimes Falls can be found in Naples, N.Y. off of Rt. 21. In the village look for Vine Street and take it to the end. There's a place to park and picnic tables too. There are 5 waterfalls to enjoy for free, getting bigger the further up the trail you go. Caution! The foot bridge over the Grimes Creek is out and you'll only have the right side of the creek to follow. It is narrow and slippery in spots so prepare to get wet feet. Even if you just stay within the are close to where you park, its is a nice, cool way to spend an hour.

Another great find is Taughannock Falls near Ithaca, N.Y. off of route 89, the west side of Cayuga Lake in the Finger Lakes. You'll pay the standard $7 fee per car at the State Park entrance. For a free look at the falls and a pretty impressive one, look for the Falls Overlook sign off of Rt. 89.
